Citect SCADA Brand Consolidation FAQs

Q: Why is Vijeo Citect being de-commercialised?

A: The Vijeo Citect brand is now consolidated with our flagship Citect SCADA brand. This is in line with our ongoing process improvement strategies and aligns with our focus on simplifying the customer experience and continuing our investment in our flagship Citect SCADA brand.

Q: Does this mean Citect is going away?

A:No, definitely not. We are continuing to invest in the ongoing development and innovation of our flagship SCADA offer. This is simply a change bringing our dual branding strategy to a close, allowing us to focus all our energies on developing new and exciting functionality for our customers under a single Citect SCADA banner.

Q: How does this brand migration impact future orders?

A: Measures have been put in place to ensure all active Vijeo Citect part numbers have a direct equivalent in Citect SCADA 2016 for future orders. There is no requirement to migrate existing licenses with Vijeo Citect keys as they are compatible with Citect SCADA 2016. If you are running Vijeo Citect v7.20 or earlier and need a new licence, please note this in your order.

Q: I am running Vijeo Citect, and I need to order licences on a new key. How do I order this now?

A: Please order the equivalent Citect SCADA part number for the licence you are after, which will result in you being issued with a Citect key.

New USB keys

If you are running Vijeo Citect version 7.0, 7.10, or 7.20, please reprogram your key via our online licence generator using the Vijeo authorisation code. You will be issued with a Citect key and you must reprogram it with the Vijeo authorisation code, in order for the key to be compatible with your system. For all other Vijeo Citect versions, the issued key will be compatible with your system and there is no need to reprogram the key.

New Soft Keys

Soft keys were introduced for versions 7.30 and later. These keys are interchangeable with Vijeo Citect software and your existing key will be updated with the newly ordered Citect part number and licence upon order fulfilment.

Q: I am running Vijeo Citect, and need to add a new licence to an existing key. Can I still order this now?

A: A: Yes, there is no requirement to migrate existing licenses with Vijeo Citect keys as they are compatible with Citect SCADA 2016. Please order the equivalent Citect SCADA part number for the licence you are after, at which time you will be provided with dual authorisation codes.

If you are running Vijeo Citect version 7.0, 7.10 or 7.20, please use the Vijeo authorisation code. For all other versions please use the Citect authorisation codes.

Q: I am running Vijeo Citect, and I need to upgrade the point count on my site. How do I order this?

A: Please order the equivalent Citect SCADA point upgrade part number for the licence you are after. Your will be provided with dual authorisation codes. If you are running Vijeo Citect version 7.0, 7.10 or 7.20, please use the Vijeo authorisation code and for all other versions please use the Citect authorisation codes.

Q: Can I continue ordering USB keys?

A: Yes, there are no changes here. We continue to provide our customers with Citect SCADA USB keys as well as Citect SCADA soft keys.

Q: Will there be any price changes on moving from Vijeo Citect to Citect SCADA?

A: Recommended pricing for Citect SCADA 2016 part numbers is the same as equivalent Vijeo Citect part numbers. There is no price variation between the two brands, however we continue to review our pricing time to time for all our products with changes communicated appropriately.

Q: I currently have a valid support contract for Vijeo Citect. How will this be impacted?

A: All existing and valid Vijeo Citect Support agreements will continue unchanged, with no changes to the agreement terms. Customers renewing their existing Vijeo Citect Support agreements will be seamlessly transitioned onto the equivalent Citect SCADA Support agreements.

Q: I need to update my Vijeo Citect software keys to the latest version. How do I proceed?

A: Vijeo Citect customers who are currently in Support and wish to upgrade to Citect SCADA 2016 will be able to seamlessly update their existing Vijeo Citect licenses to Citect SCADA 2016 via the license generator on the SCADA & MES Support website. It is important to note that the product component will not change when upgrading a license key, only the version number. For example, when upgrading Vijeo Citect 2015 (7.50) to Citect SCADA 2016 (8.00) the license key (product) will remain as Vijeo Citect but the version will change to 8.00, with the Citect SCADA 2016 runtime successfully detecting this key.

Q: Can my Vijeo Citect project be seamlessly migrated to the Citect SCADA brand?

A: In version 7.30, changes were made to both Vijeo Citect and CitectSCADA to ensure they were fully aligned in terms of features, functionality and licensing with the anticipation that we would be consolidating both products into one. The brand migration has proven to be successful in the past and therefore we do not expect any upgrade issues related to the brand consolidation with Citect SCADA 2016. Please refer to the ‘Compatibility Matrix’ document published on the SCADA & MES Support website, as well as the software Installation Guide for specific information on product compatibility and upgrades.

Q: If I continue to use Vijeo Citect, what Support shall I expect into the future?

A: For customers with active Support agreements in place, full Support with maintenance development will continue as per the details in the ‘Product Support Lifecycle’ document published on the SCADA & MES Support site. We strongly suggest that all customers on Vijeo Citect version 7.20 and earlier upgrade to Citect SCADA 2016, as our Support on these prior versions is limited or expired.
