SCADA & MES Global Support

SCADA & MES Software Global Support provides drivers to communicate with families of I/O Devices from a wide range of manufacturers. After a driver has been developed, tested and released it is supported by the SCADA & MES Software Global Support Technical Services team. The team can provide both driver maintenance and minor enhancements (subject to review and approval). Enhancements might for example include support for newer hardware/firmware, extended registers or additional data types. Major functionality changes will generally be passed back to the Driver Development team.

In order to monitor and improve the production, quality and delivery of driver modifications we have implemented strong internal processes. If at anytime you are involved with a driver update we hope the following guide to our driver build labeling will assist.

Experimental

  • Used for verification of bug fixes or enhancements before producing a more lasting build (eg : HotFix).
  • May not have been tested by SCADA & MES Software Global Support QA.
  • Popup "Experimental" WILL ALWAYS display at startup.
  • No time limit for approved customers if started within 30 days of the build being made. If running at the 30 day point, a warning not to shutdown will display [the driver will continue communicating]. If started more than 30 days after the driver was built, it will revert to a 60 hr run-time limit to allow time to receive an updated pack.
  • 4hr run time limit (*) if used by a non-approved customer.
  • Not recommended for production deployment.

Hotfix

  • Available to approved customers on a case-by-case basis.
  • May not have been tested by SCADA & MES Software Global Support QA.
  • Has passed analysis by a SCADA Architect for system impact and stability.
  • No time limit or popup for approved customers.
  • 4hr run time limit (*) and displays a warning popup at startup if used by a non-approved customer.
  • May be placed in production deployment after rigorous factory acceptance testing (FAT).

Beta

  • Pre-release software limited to approved customers
  • May not have been tested by SCADA & MES Software Global Support QA.
  • Has passed analysis by a SCADA Architect for system impact and stability.
  • No time limit or popup for approved customers.
  • 4hr run time limit (*) and displays a warning popup at startup if used by a non-approved customer.
  • Not recommended for production deployment

Custom Release

  • Software released (and supported) for a specific customer only
  • Tested in conjunction with the specific customer only
  • Has passed analysis by a SCADA Architect for system impact and stability.
  • No time limit or popup for approved customers.
  • 4hr run time limit (*) and displays a warning popup at startup if used by a non-approved customer.
  • May be placed in production deployment after suitable FAT
  • [This classification will replace any of the “Internal” drivers]

Release

  • Contains one or more bug fixes for general release
  • Has passed analysis by a SCADA Architect for system impact and stability
  • Has passed QA testing
  • No time limit or popup
  • May be placed in production deployment after suitable FAT
